Chairman's Welcome

Welcome from the Executive Principal

BOT Chairman

Dear Parents

On behalf of the staff at Nada International School, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you and your children at the start of the 2017 – 2018 academic year! We hope to further establish a productive partnership with you, based on research-based best educational practice, to maximise the possibilities that your child / children fulfil their potential. Countless educational research unanimously recognizes that successful schools ensure that children have support from both the home and school. We know that a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child's education.

At NIS we believe in a holistic education, which comprises of our focal goal of academic studies, supported by sports, arts and culture, alongside equally important issues where the character of your child is developed, through matters such as exemplary standards of behaviour, attitudes, morality, ethics and values.

Schools, teacher and parents, hold a shared responsibility for our children's success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities. We ask that you guide and support your child's learning by ensuring that he/she:

  1. Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day's learning experience:
  2. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, such as child sickness, we expect all children to be at school each day the school is open for instruction. Although we cannot prevent parents from doing so, we do not support any absences for holidays, birthday parties, days trips etc. All these types of absence negatively impact student learning. Resultantly, we have very strict policies regarding children who miss tests, project deadlines, assessments and examination

Equally importantly, we expect children to arrive at school before we lock the school gates. All children should be at school before 0720. Once the school gates (front and compound) are locked at 0730. After this time, all children will be required to report to the school office. Depending on the severity of the lateness and the frequency, the Admin Staff could impose sanctions, such as detaining the child until the start of the next full period, or sending the children home for the day.

We expect all parents to fully familiarize themselves with precise details in the NIS Parent Handbook. Click Here

All children must bring the required copy books, text books and equipment to class. Please make sure that you check your child's bag and timetable each day (in advance) to ensure that they are fully prepared. Equipment lists for all classes are available on the NIS Website.Click Here

  3. Completes all homework assignments given by teachers:
  4. As of the start of this 2017 – 2018 academic year, all G1 – 3 children and parents will access the details of homework and homework worksheets online. This will be via the NIS Show My Homework portal. It is vitally important that parents access this portal every day to have a full knowledge of homework assignments, homework due dates and homework completion. If you have any queries regarding this system you should contact:

Whilst we encourage the parents of all G1 – 3 children to help with homework, we must insist that you ensure that all work submitted is the work of the child, not the work of the parent. Please could you ensure that you are aware of the Primary Homework Timetable, which was given to your child in paper form and is available for download from the NIS Website.

  5. Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills.
  6. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life.
  7. Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject.
  8. Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college Please consider joining our school volunteer program as our students can greatly benefit from your involvement and contributions to the school's program and its operations.

NIS was recently ratified for full AdvancED Accreditation. Full details of our achievements and plans for improvement will be sent to you shortly. Whilst NIS gained numerous plaudits from the AdvancED team, we were also requested to address one 'Improvement Priority',

Resultantly, we seek volunteers to help us with the following activities:

  1. Teacher-led instructional support, usually in the classroom
  2. Reading with children who need extra help
  3. School-wide events
  4. Student recognition events

If you have any questions about the rules and expectations, please feel free to contact me or to discuss them with your child's teacher. It is very important that you and your child are fully informed regarding standards related to appropriate behaviour for a safe and productive school year. The wonderful staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. We thank you for your support and look forward to meeting you.
