At NIS the 'High School' comprises G9, 10, 11 and 12. Our students are engaged via a sequential set of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) courses which lead to the globally acclaimed IGCSE / AS / A level examinations. These examinations are externally marked by Cambridge and have a proven reputation for being excellent preparation for university and life itself. Students and universities have faith in the fact that the awarded results arise from a robust, thorough and fair assessment process. Leading universities worldwide accept CIE qualifications as evidence of academic ability. CIE qualifications are used by thousands of students, from hundreds of different countries, to gain acceptance to universities, including some of the most prestigious in the Middle East, Pakistan, India, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Historically, NIS graduates have entered highly ranked universities around the world, enrolling in courses such as medicine, engineering, pharmacy, dentistry, veterinary medicine and other extremely competitive courses.
Overview
Grade 9 and Grade 10

During these important years we aim to prepare the majority of our students for university entrance. University entrance preparation really becomes serious at the start of G9. NIS students are required to study full range of IGCSE courses. As stated on our IGCSE / AS / A page, we recommend a total of eight subjects. In fact, the global average number of examinations taken at IGCSE level in one sitting is 8.

Grade 11 and Grade 12

However, most quality universities cannot admit students directly from Year 11 because the first year of their undergraduate programmes start at a significantly higher academic level. Such universities, when admitting students from the British education system, will require them to have completed additional Sixth Form qualifications before they can be admitted.
