Art is an important subject at NIS. There is a significant amount of research evidence to suggest that Art is both important for the development of the human brain and the exposure to art has a positive impact on academic learning. This view is supported by research as follows
A child's early years are a crucial time for exposure to the arts
(Flohr, Miller, & DeBeus, 2000)
The more arts education the student had, the higher the scores were as compared to students who had no art or music instruction
(Vaughan & Winner, 2000)

Additionally, Art lessons allow children a break from academics and supports the schools holistic educational approach.
Immersion in Art allows students to create individual responses to curriculum requirements and stimulates creative thought, critical analysis, observational skills, plus spatial awareness and fine motor coordination. We hope that NIS students become motivated through technique development.
To enhance and enrich our Art curriculum NIS holds Art Competitions and offers an after school Art & Craft Club as part of our NIS Activities provision.
