The mathematics curriculum at Nada International School is adapted from the Cambridge International Examination mathematics curriculum. This has allowed us to follow a world recognized leader in mathematics provision with the additional benefit of tailoring the curriculum to meet the mathematical needs of our students. The mathematics curriculum at NIS is a combination of four sections. These are: -
• Lower School – Primary Math
• Middle School – Secondary 1 Math
• Lower High School – Secondary 2 Math
• Upper High School – Advanced Math
LOWER SCHOOL - PRIMARY MATHEMATICS

This section of the curriculum has been adapted to meet the linguistic and educational needs of our students from KG2 through to Grade 5. The mathematics curriculum framework explores five content areas: Number, Geometry, Measure, Handling data and 'Problem solving' These are further subdivided into 'sub-strands'.
STRAND 1 - Number
• Numbers and the number system
• Calculation – Mental strategies, Addition and subtraction, Multiplication and Division
STRAND 2 - Geometry
• Shapes and geometric reasoning
• Position and movement
STRAND 3 - Measure
• Money
• Length, mass and capacity
• Time
• Area and perimeter
STRAND 4 - Handling Data
• Organising, categorising and representing data
• Probability
STRAND 5 - Problem Solving
• Using techniques and skills in solving mathematical problems
• Using understanding and strategies in solving problems
Strands 1 – 4 are supported by Problem Solving. Mental computation and strategies are also fundamental to our approach.
MIDDLE SCHOOL - SECONDARY 1 MATHEMATICS

NIS Secondary Mathematics is both a continuation of the primary mathematics curriculum and early preparation for IGCSE mathematics. The students following this curriculum are from Grades 6 through to 8. The curriculum frameworks for each subject for Cambridge Secondary 1 are organised into three stages corresponding to the first three years of secondary education. They reflect the teaching target for each year group and provide comprehensive learning objectives. For Cambridge Secondary 1 Mathematics, the curriculum is divided into six 'strands'. These are divided further into 'sub-strands'.
The six strands and substrands are: -
STRAND 1 - Number
• Integers, powers and roots
• Place value, ordering and rounding
• Place value, ordering and rounding
• Fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio and proportion
• Calculation
STRAND 2 - Algebra
• Expressions, equations and formulae
• Sequences, functions and graphs
STRAND 3 - Geometry
• Shapes and geometric reasoning
• Position and movement
STRAND 4 - Measure
• Length, mass and capacity
• Times and rates of change
• Area, perimeter and volume
STRAND 5 - Handling data
• Planning and collecting data
• Processing and presenting data
• Interpreting and discussing results
• Probability Problem solving
LOWER HIGH SCHOOL - SECONDARY 2 MATHEMATICS
The syllabus is designed to fully prepare the student to engage with IGSCE Extended Mathematics and full preparation to sit their examination at the end of grade 10. The Cambridge IGCSE is International recognized and accepted in over 170 countries worldwide as a record of a student's achievement in mathematics.
UPPER HIGH SCHOOL - G11 / 12 - ADVANCED MATHEMATICS
Cambridge International AS & A Levels are internationally benchmarked qualifications providing excellent preparation for university education. Students can opt to sit just the 1 year AS mathematics course or the 2 year A level course. The additional modules sat at Nada International School are Mechanics and Statistics in addition to Pure Mathematics.
