The NIS 'Middle School' provides a smooth transition between Cambridge Primary studied in the 'Lower School, via a modified version Cambridge Secondary 1 curriculum. This curriculum is rigorous and provides an excellent platform for IGCSE / AS and A level success at 'High School' level. NIS is committed to engaging students through meaningful educational experiences, which we are confident will thoroughly prepare our students for the globally recognized CIE examinations.
The curriculum at 'Middle School' level remains broad and balanced, in order to cater for the spectrum of interests and aspirations that young people have at this age. This phase of the NIS curriculum provides an excellent foundation for future development and gives children the optimal level of preparation for 'High School'. The 'Middle School' curriculum comprises of the following elements:
EFL = English Foreign Language (For school identified weaker students)
AFL = Arabic Foreign Language (For non- Arabs or school identified weaker students)
1 = Students are invited by the EFL department based on Standardized test results and teacher recommendation.
At NIS some G8 students start their IGCSE examination courses in selected subjects. This allows greater amounts of teaching time for these rigorous courses and allows teachers and students more time to master complex concepts.
