Throughout their time at NIS, students are continuously prepared for their future higher education and potential careers through a variety of planned initiatives and activities, included within the curriculum and part of the pastoral provision.
All subject areas develop their own curriculum to make connections with relevant potential career paths. Students will learn about different elements of higher education and the world of work at varying stages through the secondary years.
During the lower secondary grades students’ complete personal skills analysis to help them understand about their personality type and skills to inform them about potential suitable careers.
When students move to the secondary stage they are exposed to different careers through career research weeks, career presentations from experts in their field including medicine, dentistry, education, engineering and technology.
Part of the process of career development and awareness at NIS includes sending children on work experience in various occupations, which helps them develop their skills in an actual workplace.
As students move into the upper secondary grades we help them prepare for university applications through a scheduled set of workshops covering the different requirements for applications to universities around the world and in Saudi Arabia.
Students are supported with their university preparation by the NIS University Guidance Counselor.
For our Saudi students we provide additional curriculum support for GAT and SAAT preparation.
In addition to this we also help prepare our students for future applications to the word of work by assigning them a specific innovative job to apply for. They have to develop their CV and make an application for a position in a company, which they then have to do an interview with a panel for the position.
Students also go through an intensive career research process, learning how to research different careers, write CVs, and apply for jobs.
They also have the opportunity to practice their job interview skills in mock interviews with career counselors.
NIS is committed to providing its students with the best possible education and preparing them for success in their future careers.
We believe that all students should have the opportunity to explore their career options and develop the skills they need to succeed in the world of work.
Our comprehensive career development program helps students to achieve this goal.
