Secondary

Students at NIS join the secondary school in grade six, which continues until grade twelve. The secondary section is divided between the Boys and Girls section. Each section has a Principal and Supervisor and the curriculum is delivered by specialist subject teachers forming part of a department. Each department is led by a curriculum / department coordinator who alongside the executive leadership team form the school leadership team. Subject coordinators are responsible for the curriculum development, planning and implementation along with school assessments within their own department. Coordinators ensure that the subject area provides many opportunities for their students to learn both within and beyond the classroom and that the quality of teaching and learning is to the highest international standards. Learning in the secondary school not only focusses on curriculum content, but provides opportunities for students to develop learning skills such as communication, critical thinking, collaboration and problem solving skills to help them prepare for their future careers and university education.

SECONDARY CURRICULUM

Arabic and Islamic

The Arabic and Islamic Department of the Ministry of Education (MOE) focuses on establishing a strong foundation in the Arabic language through its curriculum, covering reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. They prioritize reading and writing skills for academic success and daily life. The department also offers Arabic courses for non-Arab students, aiming to provide high-quality education for all, regardless of their language background.

The Cambridge IGCSE First Language Arabic course has three main goals: enhancing students’ written communication skills, fostering an appreciation for Arabic’s unique features, and equipping students with versatile language skills applicable in various contexts, enriching their overall education.

The Cambridge IGCSE Arabic Foreign Language (0544) course has four key objectives: developing language proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic, providing cultural insights into Arabic-speaking regions, promoting a positive attitude toward other languages and cultures, and offering an engaging and intellectually stimulating educational experience.

Humanities

The Humanities Department at the institution focuses on several key areas to enhance the educational experience: Firstly, they emphasize Digital Literacy and Technology, utilizing platforms such as Jeopardy, Nearpod, Kahoot, and Quizizz for teaching and assessment, leading the integration of digital tools into education. Secondly, the department promotes Student Leadership by offering various roles, including the Ambassadors’ Program for the Students’ Council Committees, encouraging students to take on leadership positions in event organization and publications, fostering responsibility and community engagement. Thirdly, they emphasize Enrichment, spanning Social Studies, History, and Business Studies, encouraging students to engage in school activities and international programs, such as the Global Youth Ambassador Program. They stress the practical application of business ideas and plans through events like Fiesta Enterprise Day, and organize enriching experiences like field trips, competitions, projects, and activities related to Geography, History, and Business Studies.

ICT/Computing/Computer Science

The ICT/Computing/Computer Science program at our school is designed to provide students with essential skills for the digital age. It goes beyond technical proficiency and focuses on ensuring that students can navigate the online world safely to protect their physical and emotional well-being. The program encourages critical thinking when evaluating online information, fostering a discerning approach to the digital realm. Students are taught to be safe and resilient online users, to identify and solve complex problems, and even to program computers to make informed decisions based on data. This comprehensive education prepares students to excel in a world where digital literacy is more crucial than ever.

Mathematics

At Nada International School, the Math Department is committed to providing a comprehensive and challenging educational experience that seamlessly aligns with the Cambridge Curriculum. The department’s expert educators create a dynamic learning environment where students actively interact with mathematics through hands-on activities, critical thinking, and real-world applications. With personalized guidance, students establish a solid foundation in mathematical concepts, hone their problem-solving abilities, and develop a genuine passion for mathematics. This approach empowers students to excel in their examinations, embrace mathematical challenges, and embark on a lifelong journey of discovery, transforming mathematics from a mere subject into a valuable lifelong skill for success.

English as a second language

Nada International School is dedicated to nurturing young minds, fostering growth, learning, and thriving. Their exceptional education, following the Cambridge International Curriculum up to the IGCSE level, encourages resilience, a love for learning, and leadership in the students’ educational journey. Senior students actively engage in community service and literary competitions, providing a platform to display their skills, talents, and creativity. The school’s magazine, “The Inquisitor,” not only showcases students’ work but also contributes to improving their reading and writing skills. Moreover, the school’s commitment extends to preparing students for life beyond university by offering enrichment opportunities to enhance their communication and English proficiency.

Urdu

The promotion of children’s literature in the Urdu language is a pressing need. Without it, children risk becoming disconnected from their own language and culture. To achieve comprehensive progress, it’s essential for Pakistani students to have a strong foundation in Urdu language. At NIS, from grade 1 to 10, they emphasize preserving religious and cultural values through Urdu literature, language, and poetry. Focusing on children at this stage is vital to cultivate future research scholars. The approach of “catch them young” is ideal in this context.

At NIS, the curriculum from grade 1 to 10 prioritizes reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in Urdu. The Urdu as a Second Language program provides students with the opportunity to develop practical communication skills in these areas from a young age, allowing them to master the language as they progress towards IGCSE levels.
